Key West: June 2

After a good night’s sleep, Debbie and the cats were wide awake at 5 am. Gaffer and Peanut were WILD and entertaining and messy. They tumbled and wrestled and swatted at us from above perches. They spilled their water and shredded some of Debbie’s notes. Now they are sleeping it off.

We are in Day Two of a 400 mile journey to Key West on Cattitude. Yesterday we went 92 miles from New Smyrna Beach to Sebastian Saltwater Marina. Today our plan is go 79 miles to Riviera Beach. Accordingly, we left at 6 am. Vacations start early in the morning apparently.

South of Sebastian is Wabaso. It boasts a stunning collection of gorgeous mansions like the one above.

In Stuart, we had to slow down for a bunch of rowing sculls.

The farther south we went, the bigger the houses got and the slower the boat traffic was allowed to go. They had special speed limits on boats over 35 feet. I think that is a great idea except when I am ON one!

By the time we got to Stuart, the water was that beautiful turquoise color. We went right by Jupiter lighthouse .

 Gaffer and Peanut were fascinated.

We arrived at Lake Park Marina in Riviera Beach near West Palm around 3:30. We are trying to determine whether or not to run south in the morning or to hunker down here in the face of an impending tropical storm. We are icing down additional beer in either case. Stay tuned!
