Key West 2022: June1

We were delayed leaving the dock by a brief rain shower but only by a couple of minutes. Because we slept on the the boat last night, leaving was pretty simple. Cats were fed, bed was made,  power unplugged, two lines cast off and we were on our way!

At 6:20 am we were already past the drawbridge. Not a lot of life at that hour except for a lone figure waving from the shoreline. JoAn made it a point to see us off and send us the above picture!

At only 8.5 knots, it took us 10.5 painful hours to travel 92 miles. We saw eagles, manatees and lots of dolphin. We landed in Sebastian around 4:30. We could have biked here faster!

The marina is nice and includes a restaurant. Debbie befriended another power cat owner who invited us over for happy hour but we stuck to our own flybridge. He said his daughter is in diesel mechanic school. Maybe we should have gone over for happy hour after all.

The cats are tolerating it well. They particularly like to chew on the fishing line on the rods in the new rod racks.

Deb and I traded off some of the driving so she could watch the weather and make reservations. I made the meals and even started reading a book!

Heading to bed early after a restless night and a long day. Can’t even watch NCIS because I can’t remember how the damn tv works! That’s okay. We have plenty of time to sort that out.
