Key West: July 5

 Debbie is an addict.

She has been obsessed with the weather all of her life but Mike’s Weather Page was the end to life as we knew it. She gets up early to check the forecast and to follow storms. There are dozens of windows and links from which to choose to support her craving. Fortunately, when it comes to boating, it sometimes pays off.

Debbie determined the weather would deteriorate by our scheduled departure date so we moved things up a bit. Her alarm went off at 5 am this morning and by 6:30 am, we were headed out of the channel.

About an hour later, the generator decided it would take its OWN vacation, leaving us trapped in the cabin with no air conditioning. Which was okay, because we have windows! Until it started to rain!

It was all fun and games for while until the sweat started to pour off of us and crankiness set in.

Gaff is a bit of a drama queen but Debbie and I both thought he was dead on separate occasions because of his sleeping posture.

After a total of 9 hours, we made it to Plantation Yacht Harbor and scheduled a generator mechanic to meet us Wednesday afternoon at a marina in South Beach Miami.

There ARE worse places to have to go!

  2. Yes Debs obsession is real but comforting none the less. Good luck with the generator repair, the boys need to stay cool 😝
